Position Overview

Organization: UNHCR

Title: Director of Philanthropy – Quebec

Reports to: Head of the Canadian Fundraising & Marketing Unit

Location: Montreal, Canada

Is this you?

Are you a bilingual experienced relational Major Gifts fundraiser who has a passion for helping others? Do you thrive on excellence, have high integrity and do you possess a deep respect for diversity?

Would your colleagues refer to you as an entrepreneurial go-getter who isn’t afraid of a challenge? Do you have experience designing and building a major giving program? Does the notion of developing a pipeline from square one with the aid of one of the most well-respected humanitarian organizations providing you with resources excite and motivate you?

Would you be inspired to be the sole fundraiser in the province of Quebec? And would you bring a strong rolodex of provincial contacts both corporate and individual to the table?

You consider yourself highly networked and love ‘walking the point’ for your organization, often attending industry events and even speaking on your organization’s behalf to media, where appropriate.

You are a known fundraiser who loves to dive into the details, but you don’t get lost in them. You keep your eye on the future and know strategically what needs to get done to achieve success. You consider yourself to be energetic, highly relational, creative, passionate and you possess a proven track record in securing gifts of scale ($10,000+) from individuals, corporations and foundations.

The notion of working with a remote team doesn’t daunt you, in fact it excites you. Skype, Zoom or FaceTime are tools you have used in the past to communicate with your team. You are open to travel not only to the field, but to other UNHCR offices throughout Europe and North America. You consider yourself a citizen of the world and would be honoured to help safeguard fundamental human rights of millions of people all around the world.
